I've said this myself, but this was a quote from a recent guest to our home and one that is repeated time and again.

We literally had to take this picture at night when everyone was asleep because it's always so full of people, rafts, toys and FUN.

Relax with the jets after a long jog on the beach... swim some laps, or just float on a raft. Kids learning to swim will love the wraparound seating/ledge and adults and toddlers can hang out on the steps.

Welcome to First Mate's Hideaway at Second Avenue Tybee

Welcome to OUR BIG beach house! Our custom designed Tybee Island, GA beach home (just minutes from Savannah, Georgia) has 5 full Bedrooms / 4.25 Baths, a comfortable living room with 2 sleeper sofas, & a Loft with a futon high atop the tree line, and it sleeps 4 to 5 adult couples and 6 to 10 children. We are only a 2 block walk to the pier, the beach & of course the Atlantic ocean (including the 2 surf breaks), and one block to bars, cafes, restaurants and quaint little "downtown" Tybee.

And when we say two blocks we mean literally 528 steps to the beach and pier.  You'll agree that this is luxury living just steps from the ocean when you are in our home, and you'll see why we call it "The First Mate's Hideaway."

We know how hard all you first mates work for your captain, and well, we decided to help you get away from the daily grind by giving you your own "hideaway."

Perfect for large families, multiple families, small groups, and especially "girls' getaways," our home is located at 1507 Second Avenue on beautiful Tybee Island, Georgia just 15 minutes from downtown Historic Savannah, Whitemarsh island, Skidaway island, and is only one hour from Hilton Head Island, SC and St Simons Island, GA. Here's a view of Tybee Island's beach just two blocks from your beach home away from home!  Come hide away for a while.

Our First Favorite Restaurant!

We love AJ's Dockside! Best view of the Bay! Try the Flounder or shrimp scampi with a margarita on the rocks and relax watching the sun set over the marsh. If you are patient you may just catch the porpoises or a manatee swim right up to the dock.

AJ's is classic Tybee-- here's where we've spotted Robert Redford, Miley Cyrus and the infamous Jane Coslick (the resident designer and restoration queen who's redone homes from Tybee to Maine). Don't be surprised if you bump into any of our other sometimes residents either.  John Mellencamp, Sandra Bullock, Paula Dean, or John Travolta have all been known to spend some slow easy days on the island.
They know too that no one will bother them coz when you are here EVERYone is on "Tybee time."

Stay on Tybee for The Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon & 1/2 Marathon – November 5, 2011

That's right, if you are running the race in November (or the Tybee half marathon in February!) why not stay at the beach on Tybee Island.  Our luxury home can sleep 8 adults & 8 children with privacy or 20 total people with fold-outs.  We are only 18 minutes to downtown and the race start.
